Brake light always on HELP
 

Hey guys I got a smoked out chines light and I wired it in but the brake light always stays on there is no indication I'm using my front or rear brake. Im not sure where to start or how to diagnose this. Any help or a step one would be awesome. All my fuses are good, my horn works, my turn signals work. Brake light always stays on and doesn't change in brightness when putting on front or rear brake.

Make sure you wired it in right, if this was an issue before the new lights it could be the brake light switch usually its a little thing you spin near your foot pedal.

Start by disconnection the wires from the rear brake light switch - does the brake light go out? If so either the switch is stuck open with muck or has failed.

Repeat with the front brake light switch.

If neither then you have a,short and we can trace that separately.

Are you sure the wires are correct? Sounds like you have the taillight wire from the bike connected to the brake light wire on the housing.
Volt meter or test light time to check which is which.

how do i do that? i know how to use a volt meter but what am i doing here?

Okay so i wired it to the front brakes black/grey, green, and green and yellow and it works. But now the issue is when i turn on the bright headlight it goes off completely.

Okay guys I put the wires on the light to the three off the main wire harness (the brake light harness not the tail light harness or vise versa im not sure how to tell which is which when the wire color is identical), but I went
from (bike) to brake light:
(Green) connected to black
(Green+yellow) connected to short Yellow wire
(Black+Brown) connected to Red
(Orange) connected to Blue
(Light Blue) Connected to Long Yellow wire.

On Front Brake Switch make sure the "Green and black" wire is connected to the prong closest the the rider, if you were sitting on the bike as if you were riding.
I also replaced the fuse for the rear tail light. I tested the front brake switch and it was good with a resistance test, I did the same thing with the foot brake and it failed the resistance test...so i unplugged it.

Brake light is separate from the rear light - two different circuits. The wiring diagram for the bike will give you the color code of the two different circuits.
