Bike won't start. Possibly fuel pump?
 

I'll try to keep this short. Haven't ridden my bike in a little over a year. Due to some financial issues, I wasn't able to get it going last year. Tried to start it up again this year after things got a little more stable but now it won't start.

I drained the fuel and put in new fuel. I've also changed the battery. put key into on position. speedo does the usual swipe of the meter and then I put the bike into "run" position. I didn't notice the fuel pump prime. From what I recall last year, the fuel pump is supposed to prime when I switch it to the run position and was quite audible.

Any insight? Thanks guys in advance. Any help would be appreciated.

I went ahead and took Havoc's advice. I corrected the angle of the bank angle sensor, and now the fuel pump primes. I finally try to start the bike, but, it's only cranking and won't turn over. Keep in mind the battery and fuel is new.

did you happen to take the fairings off at all during this time ? could be possible your BAS (bank angle sensor) could be upside down and this will keep the fuel pump from priming.

the kill switch could not be in the right position (i know seems simple and stupid but happens to everyone)

maybe you forgot to hook back up the wires to the fuel pump when you took the tank off to drain it ?

The kill switch was definitely on run. I think you might be right about the bank angle sensor. I checked wiring which didn't look chewed through or anything. I found it peculiar that the pump would just go all of the sudden without riding.

Thanks, I'll see how it goes after adjusting the sensor. It's getting kinda dark to play around now though.

On another subject though, just want to hear anybody's opinions on the best way to change the spark plugs. Manual says by working around the rad but my coworker tells me to go from above.

Go in from the top. Lift up the tank & remove the airbox.

OMG that is easier...I just paid 40 bucks for a shop to do it because I couldn't reach around the radiator...

$40 bucks ain't bad though.

just out of curiousity , did you charge the new battery before hooking it up ? if you dont have a battery charger try jumping your bike from a car and see if it will start. just for ****s and giggles humor me lol
