As the title says my bike wont start after i installed a manual CCT on my 02 f4i. Im guessing that the timing jumped and thats the reason. It ran fine and i adjusted the cct to get rid of the rattle and then as i was letting it warm up to take it for a ride it just died. I only tried to start it once after that so im hoping i got lucky with internal damage. It ran perfectly beforehand so theres obviously something wrong. Where do i start with checking the timing? i searched the forums and couldnt really find an answer specific to my case. I have no problem with pulling the engine if thats what needs to be done, just looking for a good place to start to diagnose this.

 

If you need to verify timing, you'll need to pull the valve cover and the timing cover on the crank. Rotate the engine with the crank sprocket in the normal direction of operation until you have the timing mark at TDC on the crank. You should be able to see the horizontal timing marks on the cam sprockets. They should be parallel with the top surface of the head.

Lesson learned to check And re check everything before freaking out. I double checked everything and it ended up being a sensor running from the fuel tank came unplugged. I now feel stupid haha
