Default bike won't start

my damned bike has died on me after my first ride on it.
keep having this cranking sound. the red icon to the left of the neutral was on when i wanted to crank. and when i cranked the starter, everything just restarted.
It has a voltmeter on and it stated 12v before i cranked so should be ok?
any diagnosis? kinda pissed that i can't ride after i just bought it.

Do your hear your fuel pump prime when you turn the key? It will be a whistle.

Check your positive/negative cables to your battery too. Also, did the bike come with or did you put in a Power Commander? If so check the wiring and see if it was properly tuned.

**This may seem stupid to some people however is the bike in 1st gear when you try to start it? Remember, that it won't startif the kick stand is down. Possibly a faulty kick stand wire. You may have the kick stand up, however due to whatever it may be (i.e. loose connection, not enough tention etc) the bike may "think" that it's still down.

Just remember the KISS method

And fuel pump priming is normal.. If you don't hear it prime then there's something wrong. Just a few simple thing to check first are the killswitch, make sure kickstand is up if you're trying to start it in gear.
