Default Bike will not start in first?

Bike does not start in first gear, clutch engaged, it acts like the kickstand is down. In neutral with kickstand up i can start and click down into first and no problems, bike stays on and is normal. its only if it is off and i try to start it in 1st gear. Bad kickstand sensor, or something else? where can i trace the kickstand harness to?

clutch switch or neutral sensor might be bad. pull out the clutch switch wires, and check resistance with a multimeter. it should change when you press/release the lever. If it does, check the wiring harness. If everything is ok check the neutral sensor (does the light show up right?)

the two wires coming right out of the clutch lever mount. They should look like two flat, black rubber things popping out Directly right of that big silver screw on the clutch lever top.

It's most likely your clutch switch. My bike did the same thing when I bought it. Took it to the dealer and had the clutch switch replaced and now the bike will start in first.

I'd have to pull the receipt but I want to say around $50-60 including the part.

you could change that out for damm near nothing, just order those parts from honda online. Or another oem dealer.

Mine started to go fautly but i sprayed some contact cleaner in there and it hasn't given me any problems yet.

fixed, one of the connectors via the clutch cable came undone, but still looked attached due to the rubber housing still covering the outlet. easy fix, thanks for the input guys!
