Bike shut off at red light? what gives

Hey today when i was riding my bike shut off at a red light. 2001 f4i with 30,000 miles. I wasnt riding it very hard the temp was at 228 degrees with the fan on. I went to a red light, minding my own business while this guy on a gixxar reved his engine really high and made me look up; distracted. The next thing i know my bike was shut off! The Fi light went on, and i started her up right away sense the light was green. I drove it along again hard to see if it'll act up but nothing happened. the temp was still at around 228 with the fan on and would go down once i start riding again. When you stall the bike the Fi light doesnt turn on, so i have no idea why it shut off! :/ i just got back from a long ride and it worked perfectly nothing shut off, and it ran great. Im thinking it was my error, maybe i flashed the kill switch instead of the lights because sometimes i play with that. i dont know? kinda confusing. :icon_doh:

i bet it doesnt happen again, it prolly isnt anything crazy. just keep an eye on it, but it would have stalled itself or u hit the kill switch. if the fi light isnt on anymore it prolly didnt throw any codes

why would the bike stall itself for no particular reason, and i dont know probably just something weird. And nope the Fi light isnt on at all, even during my long rides so nope no codes.

If it gets too hot the bike will turn off to protect itself...idk the actual temperature but it might have gotten to that point.

Overheat is 250 degrees.

Dunno about yalls bikes, but given the heat coming off mine at around 228 I'd think you'd feel your legs and ass on fire at 250

^yes, same here

lol no i dont think it got that hot! mine stays around 228 on a hot summer day. but i can check the coolent but i doubt anything is low on the bike. What do i have to do to check it? take the right fairing off?
