Bike generating more heat that usual
Hello all,
I just have a quick question. While I was riding today, I noticed that the bottom half of the bike is getting warm after riding on the bike for about 10 minutes. Now, I know that there is an engine and other friction devices being used and metal causes more heat, but I just want to be sure.
My fan turns on at 224F and off at 218F. The outside temp was about 65F. I was not riding fast and only made it onto third gear a couple of times because I was in a lot of traffic. The whole ride took about 25 minutes. After I got home, I touch the frame and it was really warm, not hot, just really warm. The clutch cover and stator cover was really hot (I know it is supposed to be because of the oil).
My oil is new (10W-40), my coolant is old (still green though) and all fluids are at the correct level.
Is this normal or is my bike generating more heat that it supposed to?
I know that I am probably just over reacting because I was not able to go fast enough to give the bike more air to cool off, but I just want to make sure that everything is fine, especially since I am just getting to ride the bike from since going down back in February.
Thanks for any help.

Your frame should be warm, its powder coated black and wraps around the engine....it draws heat. Stop and go traffic like that will heat your engine up fast. far faster than freeways will. Even when I ran my bike hard in twisties, I stayed between 195 and 210 because of the movement of air.
If you bike operates or gets above 225, then you could have a problem. When my engine seized last week I got up to like 245+
