Default Bike cuts out

Wow it's been a long time since I've posted here!

Anyway, having some trouble with the f4i. For the past couple days it cuts out when riding--the tach goes to 0 and I coast. Sometimes I can just downshift and it will catch and allow me to keep going, other times I can hold in the clutch and hit the start switch to get it going again.

It seems to happen only while slowing down or cruising, not while accelerating. It doesn't seem to depend on the weather (rain, hot, etc) and it hasn't had any trouble starting.

Also a couple weeks ago it stalled and wouldn't start again while on the highway, but I found out there was water in the fuel pump relay. Once I cleaned and dried the connectors it didn't happen again.

It seems like an electrical issue...maybe gunked up connectors somewhere or loose battery cables? Perhaps spark plugs? What do you think?

I've read a lot of the time it was loose battery cables or the headlight wiring harness clip is corroded or loose. Somewhere to start

Since my last post, my speedometer has been turning off and on while I ride while continuing to cut out when cruising or slowing down. It also sounds as though the air intake isn't quite right--like it's running rough.

Doing a search here it seems that I have fallen victim to a worn speedo sensor. Would it also cause the bike to cut out like it does? Is the only way to fix it a replacement?

could be stator... sounds like ur not getting enough spark at lower rpm.... that being said... start with ur plugs and eliminate ur firing process one part at a time

Would that cause the speedo to cut out like it does? Or do you think it is two separate issues?
