Big day

So today I'm doing my clutch, sprockets and chain, spark plugs and timing chain tensioner. My only question is I know u should soak the clutch plates in oil, does it have to be the oil I'm going to be putting in the bike ( I didn't buy enough) or can I use a bottle of penzoil 5w30 to soak them? Oh and I'm going to do the shorty exhaust mod. Wish me luck,

That indeed is a big day. Lots of work ahead but your bike will love you.

Some oils have additives that are not good for wet clutch kits.
If the bottle say's "Friction Modifiers" or "Energy Conserving" anywhere on it, do not use. Some have said that xxW-30 oils use friction modifiers and xxW-40 do not. i would look into a little bit more.

Friction modifiers may cause your clutch to slip. basically, aside from motorcycle oil, most multigrade motor oil for semi-trucks like Shell Rotella or Chev Delo...or Mobil something is good. Shell Rotella is rated as motorcycle oil too. Get the cheapest 15w-40 and you'll be good.

Couldnt you soak it in the old oil. Its dirty but its just to get the clutchs wet.

+1 for soaking in Shell Rotella 6, you could also use it as your choice in oil. Its cheap and MANY sport bike guys running it with wet clutch.

Good luck, it'll feel like new when you go out and ride after. I've been thinking about chopping my exhaust for a while now, let us know how it all comes out!
