Default Best way to lower bike?

I just purchased an '02 F4i, and right now the bike sits just a little too high. I would like to drop the bike just a bit, as I am about 5'4" and would like to have a little better footing when I come to a stop. I have seen two different kinds of lowering kits, using the dog bone with multiple holes for ride height:

Amazon.com: Honda CBR 600 F2 F3 F4 F4i 1100XX Black Lowering Links (1991-2006) High Quality Billet Aluminum Lowering Links Undertail Drop Low Ride Street Bikes Sports Bike Custom Motorcycle: Automotive Amazon.com: Honda CBR 600 F2 F3 F4 F4i 1100XX Black Lowering Links (1991-2006) High Quality Billet Aluminum Lowering Links Undertail Drop Low Ride Street Bikes Sports Bike Custom Motorcycle: Automotive

and then the link itself:
Yana Shiki A2861LRC 1" and 3" Drop Billet Aluminum Lowering Link for Honda Bikes : Amazon.com : Automotive Yana Shiki A2861LRC 1" and 3" Drop Billet Aluminum Lowering Link for Honda Bikes : Amazon.com : Automotive

Which is better to use? I'd get about an 1" out of both, which is about what I'd like just to have a more comfortable ride. Any help or opinions welcome!

I have dog bones on mine and all previous bikes, they work fine. One hole is for stock, one for 1.5" drop and the last is for 3" drop. I haven't ever used the link

I have both on their way, with a set of 3 position dog bones and a Link as well. Link was free from a friend, just paid shipping so I got it anyways. I am interested in shaving the seat as well as I've done that on my previous bikes but these seats are very minimal as is.

If you use both you will get between 2.5 and 4" depending on which hole you use on the dogbones. Just keep an eye on the plastic piece that is above the shock @ 3" it hit my shock so i raised mine back to 1.5".

Yeah I dont think I will use both, just wanting ~1" or so, but I have options on which way I want to lower it now. I think the dogbones would be the easiest swap.

Black powder coated dogbones showed up today and was quick to bolt them on. Came with a stock, -1", and -3" drop, and I went with the 1 for now, as the 3" drop seemed too drastic and the tire was dang close to my plate in the rear anyways.

Now I gotta do something with the kickstand, it stands almost straight up now.

My next question, is how do you crank down the shock? Its set on 5 right now and I know the stock setting was 2. That should bring it down a little bit too, since I'm not riding 2up like the PO did.

I'm 5'1" and have always lowered 2". On my 636, zx6r and my Honda f4i. I never just bought a lowering kit and called it a day. Do yourself a favor and have it done right. Both the forks and spring were shortened on my bikes so the handling was never compromised. Buying the kit is a cheaper way and yeah, you can adjust the height, but the handling may become an issue though. You can also shave the seat too. Def don't forget to get yourself a lowered kick stand too bc once you drop her, your bike will stand very straight with no lean and you'll have to do what I did for a whole summer and park backwards or find a lean on the Pavement 😆 I'll post a pic of me still on tiptoes after lowering but more so on the ***** of my feet rather than 1 foot tip toed lol hope this helps! ✌🏼❤️🏍️

I love it. This bike was sadly wrecked last week on the Philly freeway by my boyfriend ugh. So sad to see it go. Glad he's ok tho. That helmet saved his life dude!! I just bought a new f4i it gets delivered Wednesday Im stoked. No one else will be riding this one but me lol need a matching helmet for my new bike now too! Found this girl with only 3000 miles... And she's an '06. Can't wait to make her mine 💙
