best replacement clutch kit?
 

hey guys im gonna be replacing my clutch soon and just trying to get some views on what you all think is the best clutch kit to put in the f4i. mines an 03 f4i just so you know

sounds good, what's a good place to buy the oem kit?

Dealership or any online oem retailer like Motorsport, Ron ayers, bike bandit etc.... Motorsport has 25% off oem right now but shop around to find best deal. Dealership will be the most expensive for sure. eBay May even have an oem kit too

kit including the steel and friction plates?

Yes. I would get all new steels and friction plates. May want to check to see if springs are still in spec or just get new while u have it all apart.

noob question but how many steel plates and how many friction plates, and also how do i check the springs?

Check out this link for the parts and qtys needed. Note the diagram there are three different friction plates (1,6,1). And 7 steels all same. To measure the springs u need a digital caliper or some sort of measuring device to measure the length if the spring once you take them off. Wear limit of springs are 43.4 mm. As the spring wears it will lose its tension, or spring back. Most likely they will be in spec depending on mileage and how hard or soft you are on the clutch. If you are able to check them you can save some money or just buy all new if you are unsure. Also may want to make sure you readjust your clutch cable once you put the new clutch in. Word of advice before install: soak the friction plates in Bag of clean oil overnight before install and make sure steels are coated with oil too.

Agreed OEM is the way to go. Also, my springs were slightly out of spec so be sure to measure them as xtremef4i mentions. It's an easy job overall. Good luck.
