Default RE: battery

your the (atleast) 15th person ive found online with this problem. i have the same problem (bikes 14 months old). ive had the same thing (long rides = fine). it seems to be more and more common with the 06's

i bought a battery from the store (it was an 05 f4i battery) and it didnt fit my 06. the 06 battery is almost half the size of the 05 battery. im assuming thats a big problem with the 06 (smaller battery).

im a bmw tech and have done draw tests, charging tests, etc. the only thing i can find is the battery is toast. im switching to another brand, and will see how that does. ill let you know what i find

Is the stock Battery a YUASA on your bikes? Those are generally top quality batteries.

All you have to do is load test the battery to determine if that's the problem (any bike shop should do this for free).

It's the battery. I nursed a couple years out of my 06 battery, with many bump starts followed by many e starts (somew estarts less than a couple minutes of riding after a bump start). I think they must have had a bad batch of batteries for the 06 model F4i as that seems to be the only year everyone has trouble with. I just replaced the battery and problem was solve. BTW, I had never left me key on, cept for once on my 1000RR, which was left on all day. Charged that battery up enough to bump start it and rode it home, put a tender on it and haven't had any issues out of that battery. Coincidentally, the 1000RR and the F4i use the exact same battery.

lol wierd. My 04 still with original battery still has no problems now with 33,500 miles. And I have a habit of leaving my lights on sometimes after turning it off and no problems cranking back up. Wonder if it was a bad batch or something.

Had problems with mine also. bought an off brand name battery online. holds charge and last longer then original. Better to buy off brand, only like $60, honda shop wants like $140 and would probably be as good as original 1.

I remember when I got my battery at Cycle Gear awhile back, the guy was saying something about alot of the 2006 Hondas needing new batteries.... weird. Guess they did have alot of problems with them. I have no complaints with my original battery... it lasted 80,000 miles before it started getting weak. 48k on the 2nd one now with zero problems (another Yuasa, same as original)

Default RE: battery

My battery has died a few times, but both were my fault,
1, changing signal lights and intergrated tail light, i was turning ignition on and off a bunch of times to test, thought to take fuse out for headlight to save battery, but it was too late, wouldnt start, had to boost,
2, left in a garage for about 2.5 weeks.
I have a battery tender which works great, all in all ive been ok w current one. Believe this is the 3rd summer though, so odds are ill pick up a new one next year, or better yet have it load tested first.
