Default Baseline F4i track setup (ride height)

Been running a 190/55 with a very small increase in rear height (penske), forks were like 1mm above clip ons. The bike has felt stable as ****, but a little hard to turn in. Tonight I raised the forks 10mm over the clip ons and I haven't really tested but once around the block and the front felt twitchy. Gonna try 5mm tomorrow but I'm curious if any racers or faster trackday guys have found the magical sweet spot for this bike after all these years? I'm leaning towards 5-3mm after what it felt like today.

Any major difference between just raising the rear more instead of lowering the front(aside from total ride height)?

Just wanna add that on the 2nd little test ride it felt pretty good. Transitions are quicker and what not, but I'm worried that under heavy braking/trail braking that the front might get loaded too much and tuck.

Swap back to 180/55 tire & put your forks at oem height of 33mm above top triple & adjust from there. This is what I run at the track & like the feedback it gives me. Of course, I keep my forks in top condition as well.

Sorry brah no way i'm going back to a 180 on the track. Some race tire manufacturers don't even make them in 180 anymore. If you're on a stock suspension just running the taller tire alone will do wonders. Even then I had to extend the shock out further (some will use spacers with the stock shock).

Anyway I went from 10mm to 4mm above the clip ons on the forks and left the rear the same - The result is absolutely fabulous.

Just putting the knowledge out there and hopefully get some feedback in return.

where are you measuring the 4mm from on the fork? The C-clip?

A 190/55 is already taller then a 180, in effect raising the rearend and sharpening steering. By adding more height with your shock you effectivly offset some of the raising of the front from stock. For me your bike would steer too heavy and slow, but I like my bike alot sharper then most. I have the front set about 53mm above the clipons and I raised the rear with 2-4 washers [can't remember how many right now]. Now that the f4i won't see the track any more I've thought about putting the forks back to about 45mm above the triples but it will never be stock height ever again.
