Arm blocking half of the view in mirrors

So, is this normal? When I ride the inner part of both mirror are all blocked by my arm, I can only see the right and left lane behind me, but if I want to see what's directly behind me I have to either move my arm or move my head, which is both annoying and dangerous.
Is this how it suppose to be? Anyone have any suggestion on aftermarket parts that can fix this?
I am 5-10

Lastly, which I'm surprised nobody caught yet, it sounds like you're riding in the dead center of the lane. If you were riding in the outer thirds of the lane you should be able to catch sight of a car (which occupies the entire lane) in one of your mirrors. Riding in the dead center of the lane is ill advised as that's where debris and oil tends to collect.
Changing your bike's location might help mitigate the natural blind spot.
Or wait for this to be released :-D

On a positive note, different people are built differently. I'm a bigger guy, and i have the identical problem, even on some larger bikes. Bar end mirrors work, extenders work, or for about 80 dollars, you can get license plate cameras with a screen that keep your eyes forward even with your chin down. They sell them in places such as autozone and are relatively easy to install. They make wireless kits etc to avoid the hassle if you have 150 dollars or so.
