i'm gonna change the oil and filter at 500 miles. is 22ft/lbs safe for the drain bolt and 20 ft/lbs for the filter. i don't want any broken parts or stripped threads?

i think my drain bolt is 22...as far as the filter, i hand tighten then give it just 1/4 more with the wrench.

That's what I do. Just make sure you get a new crush washer from the dealer, it's for the drain plug.

i changed just the oil at 250 miles ( it looked like mud), now i'm close to 500 so it's time for new oil and filter. how hard is it to get the filter off the first time? what filter wrench do i need for an oem filter? i'll be puttin gn4 dino juice in the bike until i reach a couple thousand miles. then i'm goin mobil 1 mx4t. thanks[sm=icon_cheers.gif]
