Anyone know the penalty for this...?

Being pulled over on a freeway when you only have your motorcycle permit and it says no driving on the freeway?

Anyone have experience or heard rumors of what the fee/penalty is? (ie. revoke your permit etc?)

As you have probably guessed...happened to me last night ;P

Thank you!

(From MN if you know the laws there...but if not what about your state?)

My buddy got pulled over with only his permit on a back road and got a $25 fine (Virginia). Or maybe he didn't even have his learners. I was surprised they were so lenient.

Wow that's not bad at all.

I can only hope it will be that lenient here...haha

I got a friend who was riding with his girl (no passengers) at night (daytime only) on the freeway (no limited access roadways) and they arrested him.

But I guess if you only broke one, lol. I've wondered this myself as I'm too lazy to get my license.

/shrug

Ouch that sucks for him lol. Well, technically I was driving at night, but he said he didn't write me up for that as it wasn't a big deal.
got lucky on that one..

m3ds 07-01-2010 10:59 AM

Were you speeding bad when he got you? I think that just pisses them off causing them to hit you with everything you can... I know my friend was doing 130+ when he got pulled over so the cop was already pissed off

vangill 07-01-2010 11:13 AM

no endorsement cost me 150.....

njens118 07-01-2010 11:17 AM

Nah it wasn't terrible...i was clocked going 87 in a 70.

Can you go get your license in the mean time so that you can go in front of the Judge and show him that you were just out riding with no intention of getting your license?

Sick97SS 07-01-2010 02:29 PM

In MD if you only have a learners permit they can tow your bike if caught riding without a licensed buddy

Luckily i had a cool cop and he just told me to "slow down because guys on bikes get hit by deer all the time around here"
He also said that he "appreciates that i actually stopped, most of you guys think you can get away." then he chuckled

99% of the time your penalty comes from the discretion of the cop. And for christ sakes don't run!! your only making things worse for yourself (unless your already going 130mph) :icon_bike:
