Default Another Oil Question.

It's getting about time for me to change my oil, It was changed right before I bought it so it is about time. First question is how much oil does the bike even hold, and another is I believe I am going with the Amsoil but I don't know either to go with 10w-40 or go with 20w-50.

buy 1 gal/4litres, drain the oil, change the oil filter and then fill till the level in the window is between the low and high marks. don't overfill. once you fill it, close the reservoir, start the bike and see if the level goes down. If it does, top it off again. 10w40 is what the manual says and what many people use... don't know how 20w40 would work.

What he said. Let it sit for a little bit and just have it idle till it gets warm again. The bike should already be warmed up BEFORE you change the oil so it drains easier and you get all the old stuff out.

make sure when you're checking the level you have the bike straight up, not on the kickstand. it'll take about 3.5 quarts.

3.5qrts. Given the summer weather, 10W40 is fine. Make sure the oil contains no Molybdenum or "Moly" as this will adversely effect your clutch operation.

What FLYOU said about 'moly' is often debated. many people run mobil 1 which does contain moly with no adverse effects. regardless, i don't want to start another oil battle. just run Honda GN4 or HP4(synthetic blend) 10w-40 if you wanna go by the book

I am running ams oil 20-50 in mine right now. It working fine. Fact it not heating up so fast with the thicker oil. With the temp the F4I normal run at, if you were to be running the bike in older weather that might be problem. I'm sure I will get three changes in. So my last one will be back to 10-30
