when aluminum corrodes it is a white kinda film, not brown.
it may be that the subframe made contact with something steel that is now rusting. i ran into a similar problem with an SV frame...

that or a wire could have arched on it. Hard to tell by the photo.

Yeah, that crossed my mind after re-reading that article (mainly because I forgot, haha)

I would ask the seller for better photos, so hopefully someone on here could figure out what the true problem is.
