so i bought these off ebay and they do exactly fit on my bike perfect. The part by the tank fits fine just screw it in. But the hole towards the front (by the lights i guess) doesn't match up with anything. anyone help me out or show me a picture of their bike

I do believe that hole remains empty and does not have a screw. If it is the same one I am thinking of, there is no screw on my bike either. Just an empty whole. 2001 f4i.

The one's you have pictures don't have the mystery holes that the stock ones have.. pictured here...
Some people will put the fan override switch in there, but other than that i think they are useless, and don't line up with anything.

The front most holes definatly screw into the front fairing. There is a small metal clip that holds on to the fairing that the screws actually thread into.

They do not clip into the ram air tubes.

even running Shark skinz mine fit in alright.
those didnt have clips just the lip around the side.
as long as the two bolts the one up by the tank and the other to the front fairing are in
it should fit fine.
when actually installed they dont touch the tubes

well **** i guess im missing the small metal clip that the front screws screw into. if anyone has a picture that'd be awesome. so i know what i need to do. just having them screwed into where the tank is seems kinda cheesy

also what are those little clip looking things on the covers for?

those clip things on the covers clip into the side fairing

you dont need a legit front screw. You can just get a bolt from home depot or any hardware store small enough to fit through the original bracket and thread a screw through it. For cost effectiveness. Does the same job

or get a plastic clip that pops in and expands those work well too!

FYI im running mine right now without the ram tubes also (till the RH one comes in. didnt have it when i bought it.) but i have all new plastics on the way. But, they're right about the screws the very front ones on the top are empty. anyway, if you install those without the ram tubes and go over 100mpr roughly those covers start to separate from the tank due to the wind pressure hitting them instead of being contained in the ram tubes. my stock ones are starting to tear around the tank bolts and occasionally the plastic L shaped joint that slides in the side faring will pop out of place. Dont wanna see you ruin a new set. I just aint worried about mine cause new ones are on the way anyway.
