Adjust Brake Lever Slack?
This may be a really stupid question but I can't find it in the manual...My brake lever has a little too much slack for my liking and I would like to tighten it up a bit. How is this done? Thanks.

Their is a round knob (think a boot a quarter :icon_teeth:) on the brake lever near where it attaches. Move it to adjust :icon_wink:

The F4i brakes have PLENTY of room for improvement.....
My round knob always seems to adjust itself when riding...it wouldn't stay where i put it. Here's how to get MUCH better lever response: 1. Fresh fluid/flush will frim up the brake lever a bit. -cheapest way but don't expect massive improvements. 2. Gets some Shorty Pazzo knock-off levers from ebay for $40, much better/adjustable than stock. 3. Get some Stainless Steel Braided Brake lines (Ebay cost me $44) Excellent brake feel and super touchy lever response. Your setup will look like this, with the double banjo bolt coming from the master cylinder: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3094/...12d0ca33be.jpg pic courtesy of mzk4lyfe101's "Rebound knob thingy " thread |

abandon this set up all together and go to radial front master with external res. ;) |
I just changed my brake fluid, I have stainless steel lines but the lever still moves quite a bit before it starts to grab. I would like to purchase some pazzo levers but is there anyway to make the brakes bite quicker? Or is this just the way the F4i is?
PS: I've tried adjusting how close the brakes are to the handlebars but it doesn't seem to make a difference on responsiveness. |
I'm pretty sure thats just the way it is...
F4i masters cylinders are not the best by a long shot compared to newer bikes and designs, but are still pretty capable of stopping the f4i on a dime. I guess if you really want a touchier MC, swap it out with one from a newer bike like ZMDS18 said. My buddy has a race only 2008 R6 (ss lines, pazzos, pads) and his brakes start to grab before the tailight switch even "clicks". Almost too touchy IMO... |
