About manufacturing date for "new" F4i
I just went to our Honda dealership and they have 2 F4i's there. When I asked about manufacturing date on those the honda guy said that it is very hard to find out. Then the other honda guy came and said that it is printed right on the black metal plate on the side. Anyway, it says there "8/05" which is August 2005 as far as I understand. Honda guy said that manufacturing date doesn't matter and the only important thing is when it was registered, which is 2006. When I asked if they can get something newer for me than this he said no.
I just wanted to ask - manufacturing date is pretty important, right? And what they have there is basically 2 year old bike which is sold for the price of new one. Lets say i buy it and want to sell - it will be listed as 2005? And when exactly did they stop building F4i, somewhere at the end of 2006? Is it possible to find something with manufacturing date end of 2006?
If this is the case I would rather pay 1000 bucks more and get 2007 RR instead of 2005 F4i.
When I was asking all those questions the honda guy looked like I am the first one who asking such questions and he has no idea what I want.

Manufacture date of 8/05 is appropriate for the 2006 model, the last of the lineage.

OP: Just buy the RR since you seem so concerned with "newness". You're comparing a current model to a discontinued one.

I know that it is discontinued, and I don't care that much about newness, just Iwas expectingthat 2006 model was manufacturedat least in2006. But as I understand from your posts they stopped producing them in 2005.
Thanks for replies, I will check the rest of the dealers in our city, hopefully they have somethingfrom the end of 2005. I like F4i, and this is my last chance to get it new, next year there will be only used ones probably. RR can wait

I think he's concerned about 1/2 model year updates. The F4i is tried and true. Although I don't have any specific knowledge, I highly doubt it. The only 1/2 year model was the 2000.5 which was actually when the F4 got fuel injection and became the F4i. All documentation however says 2001 for 1st "i" model.
I guess Honda wanted to beat everyone else to the punch.

Yeah concerning the warranty.....that doesn't start until the day it's titled to you and then you have a year
Even if you bought a brand new 2001 F4i, you still have a 1 year warranty from the day you buy it.
Concerning newness.....that don't really matter either. They get the bike in a crate & then put the rest of it together whenever they feel like it. So it could be sitting in a crate in a warehouse for like 6 months before they put it together which wouldn't even matter.
The point is that the bike is brand new, 0 miles, and never ridden regardless if it was built in 5/05, 8/05, or 11/05. They didn't change the F4i from 2001-2006 mechanically....only cosmetically from 2004-2006.

What color is the bike? '06s are blue or yellow, '05s are dark candy red or grey. '04-06 are exactly the same bike except for the colors.

And I think you're being a little picky with the manufacture date.
