I'm leaning towards agreeing with most on your issue. While the mileage shouldn't be a problem, taking into account the bike was maintained and serviced properly, I agree that $3K is a bit high. I picked up my '05 F4i [with 600RR front fork conversion] for $3200, and while it had 16K miles on it when I got it - it runs perfectly and checked out fine (of course, I've since taken it all apart, cause that's what i do with toys ), and looking back I probably could have got it for a bit cheaper - I was just sooo excited to get it.
Take your time, and like others have stated on here, you're looking at a F4 and you could [more than likely] get it for considerably less. Offer $2K and let him counter $2500 or something. He may get offended, but who cares - it's an eleven year old bike. Look around a bit more too, I live in Tulsa, OK and the last time I checked there were 5 or 6 F4i's ranging in price from $3K to around $5K.
Good luck with it though, and keep us posted.
