Default 600RR Front Calipers on F4i?

So I've been searching all over the net for any relevant information about this, with no luck.

I'm a big fan of the gold color I've seen on numerous 600RR front brake calipers. Now from what I've found out, the calipers on the 05+ 600RRs are dual stage or some nonsense, thus not working. I also know that the 600RR rotors are slightly larger in diameter than the F4i rotors.

Thus my questions:

- Any chance of 600RR calipers fitting on the F4i? (I have a 2002, if it matters.)
- Would I need to use 600RR rotors?
- I have a stainless steel brake line kit on my F4i - would the banjo angle have a difference and make it all a PITA?

I'm fairly certain this would be an annoying project and not worth it, but I'm curious. I know I could just get them painted/powdercoated, but it'd be nice to upgrade at the same time if the RR parts are better.

(Edited because my dumbass kept saying caliper instead of rotor, thus making no sense whatsoever.)

might as well go with the gixxer calipers...direct bolt on.

What year gixxer's and i would assume 600? and would the rotor need to be replaced as well? Thanks

check it....
https://cbrforum.com/m_25358/tm.htm
they are the 02 gixxer 1000 calipers.
i think the 03/04RR with the nissin calipers may fit...

You can also use cbr 954 calipers gold in color direct bolt on.The only difference is the two bolts that go on the hanger, you can use the F4i's stock bolts. And while you are at it use the 954 master cylinder for much better braking

Just my two cents.... but when i thought about doing this mod someone gave me some knowledge! Basically they explained there is no advantage from going to Gixer calipers! When i was doing my HW on this GSXR-1000 6 piston calipers where only ones off there models to work with the F4i! Basical they explain that four piston calipers are better then six! Had something to do with more surface area pushing the brake pads to the rotor. Its seems to be true as now the gixer 1000's and some other 1000's i beleve , and Zx-10, 1000r all have 4 piston calipers. R1's went from 4pistion calipers to 6 pistion calipers.... And i believe the 08 busa now has 4 piston calipers but i might be wrong! Im sure there is more to just the calipers...system diameter of rotors... but there must be some truth to that?

But I like the idea of swapping 954 brake calipers to get the gold on there!

haha pulling this back from way dead. Was looking at my buddies 600rr over the weekend and grew jealous of his gold calipers. So now Im looking for some of my own. Also is it fairly easy to swithc over to a 954 master cylinder as Ive read that helps braking.

Dead is right!

There is far more to be jealous on the 600rr than just calipers.

The 954 uses the same calipers as the f4i so why not just paint/powercoat them?

I used some Hi-temp gold caliper enamel to paint mine (before i had access to powdercoating) and they look great just as long as brake fluid doesnt get on them.

The 954 master is technically an upgrade (bigger piston) but not going to be a huge difference, just more pressure.

600rr front end swap on the other hand, going to be a MUCH bigger difference.

It seems your friend may be mistaken. Hydraulic brake efficiency has more to do with the psi (pressure- pounds:square inch) in the system than it does with surface area on the back of the pad. When you take the same master cylinder and a 1,2,4, or 6 piston caliper the pressures inside the system are going to be the same. The difference comes in when the hydraulic pressure is transferred into kinetic energy. Say for instance there is 100 psi in a braking system (I made that number up-I have no idea what kind of pressures the brakes on our bikes run). 100 pounds per inch over 4 pistons at say...2 inches squared each is 1600 lbs of force (100lbs x 4 x 2 x 2=1600)

That same 100 psi over 6 pistons at...we'll say 1.75 square inches is 1837.5 lbs of force(100lbs x 6 pistons x 1.75 squared=1837.5)

Similarly, if the pistons are only 1.5 inches and there are 6 of them there is only 1350 lbs of force created.

Basically it has nothing to do with the surface area on the back of the pad but the surface area on the back of the piston that the fluid can exert force on.

Yes it is, it is a direct swap, and I have one for sale
