So i bought my F4i about a month ago and have put 500 miles or so on it so far. It is a 2002 with 3200+ miles now, i got it with 2700+. Is there anything i should do? I looked at the oil which seems fine and looks clean, i lubed the chain twice so far with chain wax, anything i should beware of. I want to keep this bike meticulous as it is and keep up with any and all maintenance that needs to be done. Anything i should do or check to ensure it stays mechaniclly excellent? Thanks for the help!

Get the manual out and read up on the maintenance section. Other than that you should be able to see the obvious stuff that needs attending to.

 

I bought my bike on the 19th of April. I have almost2500 miles
on it since.

 

i can pee further than you.

change oil every 3-4K, filter every other, or everyone, service intervals at 4K, 8K, 12K, 16K (major service), etc.
clean and lube chain every 500 miles...lube every 250 if you'd like, etc....

all fluids should be changed yearly and not by mileage...as age itself also degrades the fluids (such as fork, brake, coolant, etc.)...yes this will be considered extreme by some/most.

 

also, chain wax is great for getting a few extra miles before you need to lube again, but make sure you're using LUBE to do the actual, well.. lubing.. the wax protects, it doesn't necessarily lubricate

pj1...motul, etc...i personally use belray chain wax...which also lubes.

 

So I should be using wax and lube? Hmmm I'm at 8500 I guess I need to take it in for major service huh? That sucks I'm broke. I need to get the Honda service manual so I can figure out how to do the brake, fork, coolant and such fluid replacements.
