I went to the DMV today to register my bike. I bought it from a guy in DE and had it shipped to me here in California. Aparently I can never register my bike in California because it's got a 49-state emissions sticker under the seat instead of a 50-state sticker. They basically told me I can never ride the bike in CA, so I pretty much would have to sell it to someone out of state. Does anyone know anything about this? Is there anything I can do to get it upgraded for CA? Thanks guy...

 

where do your parents/relatives live? have them register it for you in there state. just say you live with them. That's how my car passes emissions tests.... it's registered in a non-testing county!

 

My entire family lives here in California. I have a good friend who lives in Nevada though. Can I even register the bike in another state when my drivers license says I live in CA?

 

I don't know anything about this but my first thought is find a 50-state sticker and replace the 49 state sticker........Would this work??

Probably not since the VIN number would state that it's a non-CA vehicle.

 

Not sure. Tell them you haven't had a chance to get the Nevada license yet.. better yet, try (if it's not too far away) and tell them nothing. Can't hurt to try.
