Hello, I'm just getting into the motorcycle fun! I've recently bought a '99 non working CBR 600 F4 from a friend and an '06 CBR 600 F4i engine. Outside of the carbs and the timing, does anyone have any advice on other parts that need to be swapped from '99 engine to '06 engine? I tried doing searches through the forums but my searches were "too broad" so it was claiming it couldn't show the results. If someone could help me out that would be greatly appreciated
Also I finally got the '99 block out earlier today! '99 F4 Engine
Timing? Timing is part of the engine it has nothing to do with the swap.
You'd need the engine, throttle bodies, airbox, wiring harness to run injectors [probably just swap the entire harness] and fuel pump I'd imagine.
Oh not the timing, it's like a star thing or something. I don't remember what it was called. Didn't realize I needed to swap the fuel pump. I kept the carburated wiring harness on my frame and everything so that should be fairly simple to reconnect.
Good point I was assuming you were swapping the fuel injection on.
Are you talking about the stator and reg/rec system? I don't know what different but its possible being carbs vs fuel injection.
The exciter wheel for the ignition may be different between the systems. Interchangeable? Probably....
The best way to see what's the same or not is to look up the part numbers for the part in question for both years and see if they are the same. Keep in mind that the Honda numbers are coded. First set is the part description, the middle 3 is for the bike it fits, and the last 3 is the production update code (001, 002, 010, etc are noting that it was updated at some point)
