2005 vs 2006, or is it CA vs 49?

i purchased a used/new exhaust from someone who swapped his 2006 stock exhaust for a upgraded exhaust. Mine was scratched because the previous owner dropped it so i wanted a new exhaust.

However i have a 2005, and i noticed that the 2006 exhaust has a hole for a wire? some kind of sensor maybe? also it looks like it has some kind of filling material inside the pipe right near the connection point between the exhaust and the headers.

is this an CA exhaust? or is the 2006 different than my 2005?

lastly, if its CA or if its restricted, will i lose much power from this? if its 1-3hp then i wont care, but if its more then i'll have to buy another one [:@]

The pipe you have is the CA model. It has a small catalytic converter at the very front of it and a hole for mounting an O2 sensor. From what I understand, it's something in the range of a 3hp loss over the other models.

The upside is that your exhaust is cleaner and thus smells less and is better for the environment.

I've got the CA model and like it for those two reasons.

all 06's have the o2 sensor in it and the converter. An aftermarket exhaust eliminates the converter though.

if you dont have the o2 sensor on your bike just buy a copper washer and a correctly threaded bold and seal up the sensor port.
Nice, easy and cost about 2 bucks:)
