Default 2005 CBR600F naming issue

Can anyone tell me if I am correct in assuming that the Australian 2005 CBR600F is the same Bike as the 2005 CBR600F4i?
I am guessing that they for some reason gave the same bike two different names???

Hi james,

There are some models sold in other countries, Europe, Austrailia etc. that the bike is sold designated as 600F and 600F Sport. In the US the bike was sold as the F4i. The F is just the same series that has been run since 1987. The 4 is the 4th variant of the 600F. The i is for Fuel Injection, vs. the 600F4 that was carbed.

Is your bike a F (normal) or F sport?

Otherwise it is the same bike. Who knows why the made them different names for those areas. I dont. Its not partial to the 600F either, or Honda for that matter.

No.They are different (I'm in Australia)
CBR600F doesn't use fuel injection (dunno how you can get a 2005 on that bike tho)

The last CBR600F was made in 2000.
Then continued in 2011, but in UK only.

The 600F is just the designation of the bike. The 600F was a complete model update in 98-00, the last model to be carbed. The 600F and 600FS both launched for the 2001 calender year (Badged as 600F and 600F Sport in some countries) and the 600F4i with the onset of Fuel Injection. The bike still is designated as a 600F. There is a little confusion as to why these bikes were marketed this way. Its simply the 4th generation of the bike.

Some people call the 2001-2006 the F5, incorrectly though because the F4i (F and FS) were model updates based right off the 98-00 F4. Fuel injection and some frame mods gave it is new designation with the "i" or classed as the FS (Sport). In the US we got the step seat from 2001 to 2003. The bike that is the same is the the FSport which looks identical. The regular F came with the center stand and banana seat, something the US did not see again untill the 2004 year, with the banana seat as only option.

My Bike is definately a CBR600F 2005 Model as far as I can tell.

I have attached some photos to confirm this fact.

Could you show us the photo of your bike please?
As far as know the naming in Australia is with F4i, not F Sport like in some other countries.
Could it be this is a CBR600F delivered/compliance in Australia in 2005? Can't tell until I see the pic

My manual for comparison:
