2004 F4I question...RPM's Dropping

I've noticed the past couple of weeks that my '04 F4i sometimes like to bogg down a little bit. It's hard to explain but like if im holding steady on the throttle and the rpms are steady at lets say like 6k sometimes it will seem to jump 500-1k rpm then come back down or if i take off somewhat hard and wait until after 6-7k to shift it will sorta pause for a split second the bike seems to be running fine but is this something to be concerned about??? Its hard to explain so maybe I'm not being very clear what seems to be happening but has anyone else had something similar to what im describing happen to them? Thanks for the help. This doesnt happen all the time but enough for me to notice and wonder what it could be.

Do you have an aftermarket exhaust?

possible electrical issues - bad battery contact, kick-stand switch malfunction, engine switch malfunction ... all could cause a sudden interruption of spark to the engine
could be something else...

yes i have a two brothers slip on....i bought the bike from the dealership used and the pipe was already on the bike...actually i was riding tonight and the RPM's actually go up 500-1000, it's like the bike pauses for a second then it kicks in....kinda when u go up a hill in a car and theres that second of hesitation then the power kicks in....but it only happend maybe twice over the period or an hour tonite so i doesnt happen every couple of min or anything.

Sounds like the bike is hesitating.
Obvious problem might be very dirty air filter.
Might need a plug change.
Hidden problem would be fuel pressure regulator.
Might want to look into "pulling failure codes" from your
bike ECM.

Pudgetpower, this might be a stupid question but what does pulling failure codes mean....and wheres the ECM located...thanks for all the input so far guys!
