2004 cbr f4i seat mod??

I have a 2004 cbr f4i and I love my bike but I recently was required to purchase full leather racing suit and now every time I go to launch (dragstrip) i'm sliding on the stock seat. Even on the street i'm sliding back and fourth when in the leathers, so how would I get my seat to grip better without searching high and low for a replacement?? thanks in advance

Do you have a split or banana seat?

CJardine 05-30-2013 05:11 PM

you could reupholster it, go to a fabric store and get marine grade vinyl and a heavy duty staple gun. Costs about $30.

yea that's what I keep hearing is reupholster the seat, also heard grip tape but I went in cycle gear and they were no help.. so looks like might be the only option

Do a split seat conversion...

Get Stomp Grip or a similar grip surface for your tank, and learn how to hold with your knees.

Seems like it would be pretty hard to balance the bike , launch to pro tree at 7k rpm and have knees on the tank all at once. Only have the problem when in my leathers while at dragstrip.

Sliding on seat

You might try a sticky wax, like mr zoggs sex wax, normally used for surf boards. Applied to the seat of your leathers and bike It makes a difference. Cheaper than replacing your seat. Leather conditioner may help also. Hairspray will work, clean off with alcohol.

Get some grip tape for the tank, grab on to the tank with your knees.

That doesn't help when your launching. I'd have the seat re-covered in something less slippery.

Got weak knees? :icon_denk:

Get a targa seat cowl, I have one makes a big difference. Really helps to keep you from sliding back and helps the looks.

Thanks guys but i've solved the issue lol couldn't afford seat with 1000rr so I basically traded bike for 06 zx6r with 15k less miles and a split seat haha problem solved

I'd consider that seat a design flaw by honda to an otherwise beautiful bike.
