2002 F4i Steering Damper - Which One? Noob Needs Some Help Picking B-Day Gift
 

Hey guys, I'm a complete noob at this stuff so I'll warn you that ahead of time :) Anyway, my buddy has an 02 F4i and a few of us would like to pitch in together and get him a nice steering damper for it for his b-day at the end of this month. We're looking to keep it around $400 and I haven't a clue to start. I would just ask him but we want to to be a surprise. All I know is that he'd like one that bolts to the top of the triple tree, but that is all I know and I don't even know if I said that right lol :)

i had a GPR dampener and it was awesome, but since i changed my triple to a complete attack performance it didnt fit. now i have a ohlins linear dampener, but wishing i bought thishttp://www.hyperpro.com/products/dam...untingKitID=30

I saw those but they are about $130 over budget, sucks too because all the reviews say they pretty much kick ass lol. I called the local shop today and they told me that they use Scott's Dampers. They have them in stock for $400 and they said Scott's would be one of the best (of course they did they want to make a sale lol) anyway, any thoughts on Scott's???

Well, budget is budget- if you have a limit, in one way that makes it easier :)

Looks like a lot of people are saying Ohlins/Hyperpro if you have the money, but Scotts/GPR are completely fine.

the rotary dampeners(scotts and gpr) are reactive meaning they tighten up the steering as the speed increases ++++ the ohlins is a linear and it just adjust with the dial ----me not so happy the hyperpro RSC is a linear but is also a reactive SUPER+++++++++
in all honesty the scotts/gpr are very good
i wouldn't have sold my GPR if it fit my new complete triple:icon_shrug:

during a hard brake, my bike jerked to the right. would a steering stabilizer solve this? i dont understand why this stuff is so expensive.
