Under seat heat is especially noticeable in city riding this time of yr. I've got an RC51 as well...you think your getting heat from your CBR, try an RC. :O In the winter, I'm r-e-a-l-l-y comfortable.

Like suggested, the heat shield is a good idea.

Yep, it was ~85F when this happened yesterday, but not super hot like it would be in other areas this time of year.

Thanks again guys for the input. The coolant is the green Honda stuff, so nothing special going on there. Plus coolant temps have been exactly as expected, it's never been abnormally high or anything.

I grabbed some left over turbo heat wrap I had laying around and cut a section for the tank and another section to place over top of the ecu. It seems to actually help a bit. There will definitely be more tweaking with that stick-on heat shield tape too and hopefully that will take enough of the edge off the heat that it becomes more bearable.

After talking to a friend at work today who has an '07 RR, I guess he has the same issue.... but that bike has an under seat exhaust so it's probably a much worse situation. In that case I'd probably just wrap the exhaust, and am thinking about wrapping mine but too it'll probably have diminishing returns in my case.

I just rode my '04 F4i 600 miles round trip, two up and never had any engine heat issue through the seat. Bike ran around 176* most of the trip. Banana seat was cozy, not exactly comfy, but cozy. Need to repad it with some gel or?

Ive noticed mine getting hot from the day I got it.. not enough to burn your *** but at times it gets annoying. I think someone said above that you can buy some heat tape to put under your seat which should block it from heating up.. which was also my idea. But it all depends on where its coming from I guess. Could be the frame?

On my bike, theres defenitly some heat coming up from the bike that hits you in the thighs and stomach, but I've never noticed the seat getting really hot as you mentioned above.

I have noticed heat from the seat...but nothing bad enough to get off. I will sometimes just stand on the foot pegs for a little bit in order to get some wind on my hot, sweaty ***. :P
