2002 f4i HID setup
i was doing some research on here and i think i decided i was going to go with this
35 watt h1 bulb type (i have no idea what that means) 6000k the kit comes with Full Kit Includes: - DDM Digital Slim ballast (2) - HID Bulbs (2) - Life-Time Warranty http://www.ddmtuning.com/index.php?p...d=101&parent=0 im not going to be installing this because i have no idea how to do so, so im not going to try. is there anything i need to order to make this as easy for my shop to install? and what does bulb type mean? |
H1 refers to the type of connector on the bulb, for example my truck uses H7 bulbs so an H1 would not properly plug into the headlight housing. be sure that your f4i takes a H1 bulb size other wise it wont mount into the headlight housing (should be in owners manual), other than that long as you have the ballasts, bulbs, and ignitors (most are built into the ballasts now) the install is pretty universal. Also the install on these things is really really easy. Blue Fox, a member here in this forum is one of a few people who have done some really good install write ups on this website. so i definitely think this could be a project just about anyone could take on, with just a few tools needed, and a little bit of patience.

I don't want to sound offensive, and please do not take this as an insult...
But I don't understand how anybody that rides a motorcycle doesn't have basic mechanical know-how. I see this in threads all the time. I don't mean to say that everyone should be an ASE-certified mechanic. But seriously, some of the things like install an HID kit or an undertail - very simple tasks! If you post where you live in your forum profile (shows up top-right of your posts) maybe someone will offer to help you install it. Nothing is better than hands-on learning.

Except you've had some custom job done to your lights, the F4i comes with H7 bulbs.

im pretty sure the F4i has a H7 bulb. anyone have other recommendations for HID kits. there are so many on ebay but I want quality.

His argument was: "If you can afford to take it to a shop and have them do the work for you, be it after market or scheduled maintnance, then do it. Doing those kind of jobs yourself or out-sourcing them to non-certified mechanics hurts the mechanic business, puts certified shops out of business, certified mechanics guys with families to feed...." and so on and so forth. I've done all maintnance to my motorbike myself, including after market stuff, but I do understand Showtime and I can see how it might be a bit difficult or confusing and then worrying about if the job got done correctly or not etc.. Still, a few things like changing oil and filter, stuff like that, is easily learned and have few pit falls, if any, and worth learning to do one-self, it greatly improves your basic knowledge of "your" bike while you work on her. Also helps to spot problems before they happen. A while ago a poor guy posted here with pics of a horribly dangerous welded lowering link that was a huge time bomb, courteously installed by the previous owner. I think he spotted it while working on his bike. Just my .02, sorry bout the thread jack as well.:icon_wink: |
