Figured since you all helped so much it would be nice to post an update. I got lucky and found an F4i engine/tranny from a scrapper in the States that only had 328 miles on it. I just finished installing it yesterday and boy oh boy I forgot how nice a fresh F4i engine sounds, not that my old engine was bad, but I did log 75,xxx KM's on it. I attached some pics. I will try to post a video of the new engine starting up shortly.

Thats pretty low mileage. If you dont mind me asking what did that run you? Mine only has 27km on it so Im good for a while yet but I figure 25km a year will be the norm for me so always good to know what they run for.

I paid $900 USD for it, but from I understand they could run $1500 or more. I paid more than that in service over the last 2 years, and my clutch was starting to go along with my inner clutch hub.

Seams like a pretty good deal. Hopefully by the time mine dies Ill be riding a newer bike.

^I'm in the same boat. I plan on riding my bike till it dies, then when it does, replace the engine, and ride it some more. But by then it would be a project, and I'd have something newer.

I have a buddy who has an 02 F4i that has a slip on pipe, K&N air filter, and -1 tooth on the front. My bike has a full MIG exhaust system, K&N, and I've done the cold air mod, and stock gearing. When we line em up for fun, he continually jumps me off the line by about 2-3 bike lengths, but once we hit top gear I can close the gap and outrun him in the long run.

cold air mod?? whats that?
