Default 2000 CBR600f4i ...i really need your help!

Hey guys,
So I feel completely helpless with this. I dont really know much about bikes, but this guy is sellin his 2000 cbr600f4i with 12k miles on it for $3,200. he says it has a F4i fairing convertion, new 520 convertion kit, new rear tire lots of life left on front, carbon fiber signals, super bike grips, yoshi pipe and jetted carb, corbin seat, frame sliders, fresh paint, and blue LEDs. Is this worth it?

Looks like the only fairing swap to F4i stuff is the tail.... front end still looks like F4. Bike doesn't look bad from the pics, but for the price you could get an '01-02 F4i for around the same or a couple hundred bucks more. I would go with the F4i personally.... fuel injection FTW!! But that's just my personal preferance

It's up to you though... if you're cool with the carbs, the bike is clean and well maintained and hasn't been crashed or anything.... go for it! I would definitely try and talk them down a lil bit though

Seems to be in pretty good shape. The price is fairly high unless they really took good care of it. Ask about the title status- ifits clear and in their possession thats good.

Things to watch out for:

Title not in their possession-Could have a lien against it (somebody is owed money and the title can't be transferred until they are paid). This would be a deal breaker for me. Lots of bikes out there and its a buyers market right now.

Salvage or reconstructed title- Bike may or may not be rideable but the value will be greatly diminished and it might be hard to get street legal.

Non-oem paint (like theone you are looking at)-Bike has most likely been wrecked at some point.Replacing the oem body parts is very expensive and the owner went the cheap route by getting aftermarket fairings and paint. This is not always the case but in buying a bike from someone you do not know personally I wouldassume this is the case and the value of the bike is greatly diminishedcompared to a stock bike.

+1 on the paint. That is the first clue a bike has been down. Some places to look for damage when buying a bike: bar ends, ***** on levers, Bends in levers (curled out), bottoms of the mirrors, the edges of the bodywork that would hit the ground first, check the rims for bends or dings, and turn signals. When a bike falls, the bottom edges of things scrape, so you may not see them right off the bat. Get a flashlight. Look from the ground or with the bike elevated.

Also, if a bike is old or has worn parts (Tires chain sprockets ect) factor in the cost of replacement or the cost of service into your offer. If he wants 3K and it needs rear tire, or it has over 12-16 K on the odometer, check with a dealer for the cost of the service and subtract that from the cost (Unless he can prove he did or had the work done).

Always beware of aftermarket signals. They may have just been changed for looks,or they may have snapped off in a accident. They also may snap off piece of the fairing that the signals mount to (this was the case under the flushmount on my left side)

No matter what, you will be excited when getting a bike (especially if it is your first bike) or you will just be nervous and not think or want to ask questions. Take someone with that knows bikes (it helps if they can read people also), just so there is someone there that can ask questions you may not know to ask, or may not want to ask for fear of the seller getting aggrivated. Where I was going with this in the first place is unless you have a hour to look over the bike in a well lit place, you will miss some wear and tear. That is a given. When i bought my 250 I drove a few hours to meet the guy, and did not even notice until a week later that it did not have a front fender. Take your time and look over it well.

Price doesn't seem that high to me. Besides, isn't the point to negotiate down? Most people put a high price hoping to negotiate down to the price they actually want.

Look around. For that price you can get a newer F4i. Check your local auctions. Thats where I got mine. 23+++ miles, little beat up, and a salvage title, but I rode it home without issue. (Toledo to Detroit) $1500, my first bike, been riding half the summer...sweeet.

yeah, price isn't bad, he said the price is negotiable so you can def talk him down some. I sold my 94 F2 w/ 34k miles for $2500 if that helps any.

I just bought my 2001 F4i for $2000. He is asking ALOT for that. I have put a new rear tire, undertail kit, new seat covers and a few other misc parts and have not broke $2800. You can find alot better bike for that price or even less.

My $.02:Keep shopping.

I bought an 01 F4i with 8k miles for 2500 but it has some body damage. However this is Alaska and bikes are generally more expensive.
