1. on the left side of the bike, when looking down the left fork, to the left in the fairing at the bottom do you guys see mostly orange wires and a few differnet other wires just sitting there?

2. I reset the whole suspension to be a little stiffer since the p.o. was only 100lb(Im 165). I use the bike for commuting mostly but atleast 2 days out of the week I will be doing riding twisties, whatever gives me better handling since the p.o. had it lowered which I hate, but the shock itself was set at 7, the highest setting and Idk if thats bad or what, especially since she lowered it I am not aware of what to do atm. Should I leave it at 7? I tried to lower it to maybe 5 or 6 but It was pretty hard to do that, is is usually a struggle? the second pic is of me with the special tool to change the rear shock positioning

The bike needs to be lifted with the rear suspention hanging to turn it. The weight of the bike is fighting you. Look in the service manual for the stock setting.

Did she give you the stock lower link so you can raise it back up?

wish it said that in the manual, she did not have it when I bought it, thats the first big thing I want to change on the bike

Download the factory service manual. Its on here somewhere...

Yea I have that one, huh is this one different than the small one that fits in the rear seat?

74demon 04-08-2012 12:32 AM

Very different. You have the owners manual, get the service manual. It will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about your bike and how to do everything.

oh wow, the manual I had online this whole time was the service manual?? wow I feel like an idiot, I never really had to use it as I always the the owners manual on hand.
Thanks for pointing that out demon

For #2 I know the stock suspension settings are in the owner's manual, I think 3 is the stock setting for the rear shock. I didn't have to lift the rear of my bike to turn the adjuster, but it was a bit of a pain to turn it. At 165lb I think your pretty close to the weight the stock settings are for. Do you have a pic of the lowering link? I don't have any experience messing w/ them, wondering how it looks on the bike?

romanboy 04-08-2012 01:03 AM

I mean its pretty much the stock lowering link but shorter,

not sure what you mean by picture^ thats what is it though.

And yeah the stock setting is around 3 but i just dont know how to adjust considering the fact that there is a lowering link on there

You want to get a stock one and swap it, unless you are also short like the PO.
