-1 in the front?

jus wondering if you would see a diff in the bike with just going down on on the front sprocket... i eventually plan on going -1 and +2 but right now money is a little tight so i was just wondering if its worth jus going -1 for now...btw its more for wheeling

chetman7 05-03-2010 09:52 AM

i did -1 the other day....i personally don't feel that mnuch of a difference.

you want to change both sprockets and your chain as a set not separately.

vangill 05-03-2010 11:54 AM

you wont feel much difference
i have +5 in the rear and dont feel much difference youll have to do more than -1 in the front (about +3 or +4 rear) to notice much

the f4i is pretty good at wheelie-ing stock you might just try practice

-1 in the front is the most noticeable mod you can do to a bike unless you go crazy on the sprockets.

I agree.

+5 is about the same as -1 +2. vangill, how did you not notice a difference? lol thats a big gear change

vangill 05-03-2010 11:34 PM

i think i did too much to my bike at the same time, and its still running crazy rich, so im afraid i stilll dont know what a clean running f4i feels like

i just did +5 bc of the look of the bigger sprocket lol

Not much difference??? arrgg...

I was hoping -1 in front was just for me because i love wheelies but also do alot of highway riding and don't wanna be at 9k rpm the whole time.

-1 +2 might be the way to go eh? damn i need a 7th gear!

p.s.

Topped out the F4i saturday ridin with some buddies. Held it at 155 mph for about 5-6 seconds and it just sat at about 12k rpm. definitely a "IM GIVING IT ALL SHES GOT CAPTAIN!" type of moment....maybe these new sprockets will help my hit that 160mph mark.

gearin down in the front/up in the rear will decrease your top speed, not increase it. i am -1 in the front and can still power wheelie very easy. my revs in 6th gear at 75mph are about 7k

Sick97SS 05-04-2010 11:12 AM

I know it will decrease your thoretical top speed, but actual top speed my increase. I was only at 12k rpm and was WOT (couldn't quite get to redline), so i had a few RPMs left just dying to be used.
