RE: +1 -2 ?????? is this what Im looking for???
Look at the images in my photo gallery for an F4 (same stock sprockets - I assume same gear ratios) for mph vs rpm for a number of sprocket combos.
I've made an excel spreadsheet to help me pick gear ratios for the track... I'm currently -1,+2 and like it... depends on your style and the track.
If you want custom gearing graphs let me know and I'll post them up.

jason,
there's no way you're getting 42mpg on -1/+2 combo...
your speedo says 130/140 before you need to fill up...but you're also reading more miles on your speedo than actual.
therefore, you're mileage is more on the side...of 110...divided by about 3.5 gallons, you're closer to 31 mpg.

I'm currently rolling awith -1 +2 gearing. its how i bought the bike.
I've gotten used to the fact that my speedo's probly around 10mph or more off at freeway speeds.
Gas mileage i see around 130-150miles before the reserve meter comes on. i thought it was strange untill i realized i was only putting in around 3.5 gallons of gas whenever the reserve come on. There's still around a gallon and a half of fuel left in the tank when i fill up( usually fill up wne im a bar or 2 down on the reserve. Maybe the shorter gearing messes with the reserve range calculations. Doing the math i m getting around 42mpg, thats around what people are getting on stock bikes and thats with me getting into it a little bit here and there.
My biggest problem with the gearing is not having an entirely accurate idea of how fact im going, and having the motor cranking at 7-8000rpm at freeway speeds.
There's still a good lack of torque in first gear until im going around 30mph (over 6000rpm), even with the gearing i still have trouble keeping up with my brother's nt650 in fast first gear takeoffs unless i rev the bike and slip the clutch a considerable amount, i end up having to make it up late in first or in second gear.
IMO gearing can help a bit with giving the bike some lower speed power, but its always going to be a peaky 4 cylinder no matter how you gear it, and i find the tradeoff in freeway cruising rpm not worth whatever slight advantage i have over a stock bike in first gear. So im going back to stock 16-46 sprockets.

RE: +1 -2 ?????? is this what Im looking for???
it's off by a percentage, not a fixed value.
It is about 14% for -1,+2 ... or 7mph at 50, 14mph at 100mph.
To figure it out:
(Stock Front / Stock Rear ) / (New front / New Rear)
(16/45) / (15/47)
=.35/.31
=1.1140740740740740740740740740763
or 11.4%

oh and if you wanna just go -1, do that math and you will find out how much of a difference it will be..(obviosly not as big as the -1/+2 setup)

RE: +1 -2 ?????? is this what Im looking for???
If you pretend it's 10% it's really easy to figure out...
50? 5mph
60? 6mph
100? 10mph
Knowing that... 11% is easy again...
50? 5.5 mph
60? 6.6 mph
100? 11 mph
Simply add the speed divided by ten ( ie 50 + 50 /10) to get 10%
That means you don't speed alot at 50mph, but can speed more above 100mph
Personally... with my speedo out 11.4% and the fact I always go 10% over I just add 20% and call it even...
50 means 60 indicated
100 means 120 indicated.
