Default 06 F4i, hit pothole and FI light came on

Hey guys, I hit a pothole at about 35-40mphand the FI light came on for 1-2 seconds and then disappeared, the bike rides fine, pretty stable and stays as straight asI can tell, however after about a week the light came back on twice, 1st time was on a bumpy road, it came and went within 1-2 seconds, 2nd time was on an offramp, somewhat bumpy too and this time engine lost power for a few seconds (felt kind oflike running out of gas as the rpm slowed down gradually)and then came back on.

My bike isbone stock, and justhad its 1st service at a Honda dealership... what could be causing the FI light to come and go like this? I am a bit skeptic about dealers, so really would like get some ideas and see if its something that I can fix.

Thanks in advance for your input/thoughts

Mike W.

Might have just nicked something for a second there causing the FI light to go on when you hit the pot hole. . . Personally I wouldn't worry about it, but I could be wrong and something could be wrong. Might have hit a wire off in the bike or something, but I don't see why that would take away the FI light if it really did mess something up.

This past weekend I went riding on an extremely bumpy road on the way back I saw my FI light flicker as well as my Tach going to 17k in RPMs then to nothing.......the bike dies.

To make a long story short my Positive cable on my battery was extremely loose...at least it wasn't anything serious.

Ichecked the battery terminals, both were secured tight, and i also checked/re-didmy alarm system's ignition kill switch which did not look or feel loose, then went out for a easy pace ride onsome bumpy roads andwent over quite a few speed bumps at around 30-35 mph- no FI light

I guess this is good news, but given the suggested problem areasshowed no loose connection, i must say i am still a bit concerned, so i called honda, and just as i expected, they wanted the bike for a day or 2, and ifthey found no problem, they'll charge me $100/hr for labor.

ouch a $100 an hour...gees where do you live? In Ohio I got an estimate for $55 an hour.

Before you go and have honda rape you, I would take off all the fairings and do a simple check yourself for any other wires and after you get done recheck them again.

It's better to spend some extra time instead of blowing some money that wasn't necessary. Plus, if you need to do other work (I.E oil change), might as well do that too!!

I'd say that alarm system wiring prob. has something to do with it. I'm guessing the connections use the 3M clamp-type wire splicers that pinch the wire in order to connect another wire? These connectors are notorious for cutting the wire completely in half over time.
