Default 05 coolant issue

So about a month ago I picked up this wine color f4i for my fathers birthday.

It had its fair share of issues to sort.

Rear tire, last oil change i dont know when, same with the plugs, etc, rusty chain. The PO last registered the bike two years ago, apparently been sitting since he got his fireblade, cant blame him for that.

Anyway, Doing all the basic service, also threw in a new thermostat while i was in under the tank.

I have no been able to diagnose as to why the coolant temp gauge only shows me --

I put a knew sensor in, the thermostat housing was pretty grimy but i doubt its that causing the issues.

When i first got the bike as soon as it would start up would not show anything then after a couple seconds would show the 95, then 165 then 95 then hold 95 then --

I thought the sensor was bad, but perhaps could be the harness? I used oem part number 37870-KRJ-901

Anyone had any similar issues?

I'm going to tear into it again to try to see whats the issue, but in the mean time I ordered a new clutch cable and a new air filter.

Would the Part number, 37760-MT2-003 also measure coolant, it was my understanding that this was the fan switch.

Thanks for any help.

Hi mate,

Good to hear you fixed your problem. If you are still wondering, the fan should kick in around 103 degrees celcius.

Greets!

it doesn't register until it hits 95, so will be showing -- until then.

Continuing on, I believe its a wiring issue, since i replaced the sensor,

Does anyone know what the third (orange) wire is, it follow through and is also running to the O2, MAP, IAT, and TP sensor.
