The 2004 subframe uses that baras part of the mount for the plastics. If you put F4 plastics on an '04 F4i you may get some unwanted noise from vibration. I bit the bullet and swapped my '04 tail for an '02 tail with the new subframe, seats, pegs, plastics, and undertail.

I still don't know why people want to get rid of the 'oh ****!' bar. That's so worth it to have just to grab onto while rolling the bike around or putting it up on a swingarm service stand by yourself.

Yeah if you're gonna spend the money to swap plastics.....you'd probably wanna swap to the (better looking) 2001-2003 rear tail section

That's my opinion

But I'm sure it'd be less work/money to swap to the F4 tail section.......just don't know how much work it'd be or if it's even possible

I get more compliments from people riding on the back saying it mre comfy that the split seat. I am planning in gettting the targa seat cowel for it. If i wanted a split seat i would a got the RR I life the f4i and prolly someday will move up to a RR. I would like to keep the bike looking as close to what its supposed to i.e banana seat, as possible sowhen i sell it its close to normal as possible. To me it just seems a hassel to have when i take off and put on the cowel for a passenger and then have those two holes.

Right, it's cool you don't wanna mod it too much in case you sell it....totally understandable.
I just was saying that if you were gonna swap tails....most people swap to the 2001-2003 style.

I didn't quite understand the last sentence of your post.....but on my bike there isn't a cowl on the rear.
It comes stock with the two seats.

I would have to buy a cowl for like $180 from Targa if I wanted one. (unlike GSX-R's which come with the seat AND the cowl)

If you buy the Targa cowl for your "banana seat" & wanna take a passenger (unexpectedly--like cruising somewhere)......you really can't. You'd have to take off the cowl and leave it somewhere. Or just leave it at home all the time, which would defeat the purpose of even having it because you wouldn't be using it.

I dunno....it's your choice.
You either gotta pick solo rider & get the cowl OR passenger friendly & no cowl

Also I don't know if you go under your seat a lot or not, but it's a pain in the *** to get under it when you have the Targa cowl installed on the "banana seat"

You basically have to take the cowl off to get under the seat.....just a heads up if you didn't know
