RE: 02 f4i
I had the same problem a few times with my f4i and others you have a couple of options. 1. the screwdriver method works some of the time try using a big flat head and take a mallet and knock it down into the keyhole. 2. drill it out it will work but you will have to clean the tank really good to get shavings out. 3 The method i used on my f4i just take thetank off andgo to a locksmith cost me 6 bucks and no headache of fighting with it. Took locksmith about 5 minutes to make a key.

I guess I could have taken it to a locksmith I just figured it would be pretty expensive and I only paid 500 for the bike. Im tryin to keep it fairly cheap. Then again I gotta get a new gas cap now so I really didnt do much there. I wound up drillin it out. It was no big deal about cleanin the tank though cause I had to spend a few hours and 2 packs of scotch brite pads cleaning the inside of the tank anyways. I could fit my arm in through the fuel pump hole up to my elbow which was just enough to get all of the tank clean. I almost would rather buy a new tank before I go through that again.
