02 cbr f4i motor swap?

hey guys, i was wondering what engines bolt up to a 2002 cbr 600 f4i frame? im gonna be getting a different motor and its be cheaper to buy another one then rebuild the 600 f4i motor, what motors would work, also if i chose to rebuild whats a good place for parts???

lmk thanks

I don't know that I'd ever swap out an engine on a bike. Personal preference. I'd just go with another stock motor. That's all the input I have though. No idea on parts or anything. GL though.

As far as I know, only F4 and F4i motors will bolt up. Maybe previous generation F-series also, but that's just silly. Stick with an F4i motor.

Any year F4i, if you were thinking RR I don't think that would work, as the frames are different, but anything is possible with a little or alot of work.

I was wondering the same thing but I would want a bigger engine like out of a 1000rr or something

Then I would suggest buying a 1000rr.

Yea but it would be a nice sleeper to pull up to someone on a f4i and then just spank them

You'd be hard pressed to use the power potential of a 1000RR motor in an F4i without flipping over.

it was just a thought I guess along the same lines as why we put a big block in my sisters 95 s-10 pickup

bikes aint cars lol, and a good rider could still spank it even with the 1k motor in it. :icon_wink:

The frame and the rest of the bike (BRAKES, suspension...) are not designed for that much of a power. Even if you could "attach" a 1000 ccm engine, it would be dangerous...

I run into this tread that may answer your question - looks like there is one more bike you could use an engine from - if it's engine can be put on a F4i, should work reversed as well...

if you have the money, i say hell go for it. but honestly, you should be able at least keep up with most anything out there, minus litter bikes in a straight.

Zero1080 06-12-2009 12:51 AM

the chances of being able to RACE the SAME bike and NOT hurt yourself with a different engine aren't worth the dollars and hours you'll need.

ridinsolowx15 06-14-2009 06:19 PM

and more than likely it would be hard to get the bike balanced again due to different widths of motors and where the front sprocket is located. I think it'd be unsafe!!

I know that you can put a GXR-1000 motor on a GXR-600 frame. Havent heard of any more bikes that you can do this with, though.
