Default 01 F4i Power Commander ?

i own an 01 f4i with slip on and a K&N air filter is on the way i was looking at power commanders and planned on getting the pcIII usb it costs like 300 but i was gonna bite the bullet and get it then i saw a guy selling a pcIIIr on craigslist about 45 min from where i live for $70!!. I dont do any tack stuff just street riding with my friends and wheelies. Will the pcIIIr be work with my bike n not going to the track days?

i found one for less than $100 on ebay. It smoothed out the throttle and slightly helped with gas mileage. No crazy power gains or anything.

Go for it for $70, but not worth $300 IMO.

U should buy it. The r model has ability to adjust ignition curves too if u ever want to properly set it up but the base map will work fine as well as a map set up for your pipe. For $70 its a steal.

Hey guys, new to this I have an 03 954rr with a hawk slip on and a K&N AF and was just wondering about these power commanders. Do you need to map them yourself with some kind of pc program ? Also will it effect the reliability of the bike with programmed power gains? Like fuel blow by into the oil for example. Also I hear the term USB above what exactly does that entail ? Do you just plug them in were your ecu used to be or plug them into the ecu ?

They have suggested maps on the dynojet website according to what filter and exhaust you have. Their not perfect its an estimate. But my bike runs fine. The USB is universial serial something. Its just the cable you use to plug the pc3 into your computer. The power commander itself plugs into the map sesnor clip. Mine was under the full tank on the left side of my f4i. I believe that they are worth it. Paid 100 for mine. Wouldn't pay 300 though.
