Default 01 CBR600F4i or 99 CBR900RR? What would you buy?

I'm looking at buying one of these, theyare about the same price, confitionand mileage. There is the obvious atvantagein modern looks/styling that the 600 has over the RR but I kinda like the larger look of the 900.I'm sure the 600 has a handling benifit but I don't think I have the skills to reach the limit of either bike. The 900 obviously has a power atvantage, I'm not so concerned with peak power but I do like the idea of more low-end for just riding around. Whatdoes concern me is the ergos. I want a bike I can put 50-100miles on at a time without my wrists going numb.

Just to give you some perspective; I am coming off 3 years with a 600F. I liked that bike but my major complaints were the styling and the power. I was really ham-fisting that bike. The handling was decent but I started dragging the pegs on a regular basis. I think I am ready for more handling. Oh yeah I'm 6.0' 185lbs if that makes any difference.

Thanks for any input.

I'd take an F4i just because of the fuel injection. That's just me, though.

+1

The 01 F4i still have a nice modern look too with the dual headlights and split rear seat.

Yeah, the F4i is supposed to be more comfortable too. Fuel injection is FTW.

Fuel injection is nice, but what does it really do for you? Other than anautomatic cold start, I really don't see the advantage. But I'll say +1 for the F4i.

The F4i has a more modern/sharper look. But I love the look of white/black with red wing scheme on the 99'. So for me the styling is a wash. +0

I'm sure the f4i has a significant handling advantage, but like I said before I don't think my skills are up to the level of either bike. You still have to give theF4i the nod on weight which almost anyone could feel. +1 on the F4i.

Well the motor is a biggie, and likely the reason for this comparison. Either bike is out and out fast enough for me, but its very nice not to have to rev the **** out of a motor to go fast, or to "wait" for the power. +3 for the RR.

I think this isgoing to comedown to ergos for me. I knowthe F4i is going to have a more comfortable riding position so it at least gets a +1. The question is how bad are the ergos on the 900RR? If they are alot worse with my ankles in my hips andallmy weight on my wrists, than the F4i wins. If theyare only a little worse and don't negate the benifits if the motor than its a tie. +1-2 for the F4i

Obviously, I'm really on the fence on this one. Keep you opinions coming.

Thanks

I hate carbureuted bikes. Fuel injection gives you the advantage of consistant fuel flow at almost any temperature. Carbureutors have the advantage of higher amounts of fuel. Personally, I have noticed on fuel injected bike, when you release your clutch the bike will slowly move forward without giving any throttle, on a carb bike, you have to give it gas or you kill it. Just my opinion.

Well my 600F carburated great all the time. Never really had an issue wether it was 40 or 90 degrees. Again, the injection is nice, but to me compared to ergos or power it doesn't mean much.

i would go with the f4i. i am the same size as you but heavier and i have ridden 300miles straight and not had a problem. if you find that there is too much vibration and your hands get numb you could buy different girps and bar endsfor under $50 for everything. the fuel injection definately gives you a longer power band compared to the short yet powerful blast of the carb. the seat on the f4i is a little stiff after awhile tho. its not too bad.

I'm sure that no-one on this forum is biased (sarcastic).
The F4i is no slow poke, esp compared to your ole' Hurricane.
