I'll post pics here in a bit. I'm not sure if I want to get rid of it or not yet. I need to find someone that can either weld it and fix it, or, I need to find another motor that's in decent shape.

You can see in the pics, just next to the side of the stator basket thing, where the bolt/journal was broken off.

EDIT-Sorry for the huge pictures.

Is there not a way I could tap that bolt (the broken one, next to the stator basket), and just replace it with a high grade bolt, then, put the starting rotor on that bolt? Or would it just be wiser to replace the entire casing?

Thats exactly what I am doing if my buddy cant weld it. Drill straight through the casing through the journal hole. Tap the whole, shave the threads off a bolt until it fits perfectly inside of the pin. Replace cover. There should then be plenty of support. Im going to make sure the bolt goes all the way into the cover.

25 dollar fix + several hours of your time. VS. new egine case + much more of your time. The side of the case and the bolt will provide more support than the origional journal.

Also, pull your oil pan and clean out the metal shavings in it. Buy some cheap oil, run it through the bike for 20-30 minutes (bump starting it obviously with the starter clutch removed) change the oil again to make sure u get the insides clean. I did all this yesterday. Gonna tap that **** within the week if my buddy cant weld it. Ill put up pictures and let you know how it goes.

That's what I was thinking, but I also wasn't sure how safe it was. IDK. If you do give it a shot, let me know how it turns out man. I'm really interested in trying this.
