Instead of removing just the cover to look at the blades, I removed my entire water pump from the bike and a lot of oil poured out of this hole. Is this normal? Could this be the culprit to my bike running hot? In some sense, I hope oil isn't supposed to be there and this will fix my heating problems. But at the same time that worries me and I hope oil should be in there which would mean I don't have some sort of internal oil leak :/

Please help me out here, I am very unfamiliar with this area of the bike. Thanks a lot.

 

to answer your question, yes. that is where the shaft for the water pump inserts into the engine. the oil would be the luhrication for that drive shaft. there should have also been an O ring that came off with the pump assy. the O ring is the oil barrier. so, unless you pull the cover and all of the blades look fuLked up... then you are good. .

 

Ok thankyou. I was a little bit worried, but that makes perfect sense. I dunno why the oil was so dirty, I just recently changed it. Maybe its time for another change.
