Petcock worry
I was emptying my tank in prep to repair some bolt holes in the filler cap surround and got it down to what i figured would be the reserve fuel. I switch the petcock over to RES and continue my procedure but nothing came out. So I tipped the tank and pulled the petcock in order to just dump it, but still nothing. This doesn't seem normal. There is a rubber tube going up into the gas tank (newb question: is that normal?)
Also, when I tipped the tank there was the clang of something metal inside. Did I disrupt some internal component on the petcock, or would this just be some random screw that I need to fish out?
The tank has a stunt dent (bought it that way), so I wonder if that has anything to do with it.
Thanks for any help
Matt

I knew about the vacuum. I got it down to just a little bit (I'm assuming is the reserve amount) and this plastic tube keeps it from draining further. I think I'll try to pull it out in the next couble of days.
Or does he mean the fuel overflow tube? or maybe the vent tube?
both of the above attach to the gas tank itself (not the petcock) and should be there.
loose piece of metal clanging around is not normal.

Then the filter is still inside. It is more just a screen that keep debris from getting through.
The thing i see inside the tank is much larger than just a screen. It extends into the tank quite a bit and traps the last bit of gas. Should I just yank it? It doesn't sound like it should be there anyway.
