Odd Fuelling Problem

Hi all,

I'm working on a friend's 1992 600 F2 which had been laid-up since before Covid...... I'm bringing it back to life for him and have encountered an odd problem. It starts on full choke and will run at idle without issue, but as soon as I try to give ANY throttle or back the choke off the engine dies straight away.

I'm confident the carbs are clean, they spent hours in an ultrasonic tank, and I've had all the jets out. I've proved the needle valves are working and fuel is fresh. Plugs are new and gapped correctly.

It's obviously fundamental and common to all four carbs, but it's got me scratching my head.

Would appreciate any advice from you chaps.

TIA

Almost certainly the carbs still have blocked internal passageways.

Thanks Ed, I've found the problem....

The inlet rubbers were/are as hard as rock and I hadn't noticed that when I pulled the carbs off, every one of them had split so the engine was sucking way too much air. Another job to add to the list!

Ah, I'd assumed that would make itself apparent earlier :-)

When I first took my carbs off the boots didn't survive the experience - it's so much easier now with fresh rubber.
