Need info about & engine swap
Hey again, if anyone read my last thread my bike took a hit. Anyways Im getting a new engine this week ($150!!) and I was wondering how difficult it is to swap an engine. It is exactly the same engine that my f2 has in it I just need to swap my old one out for the new one. I also wanted to know if I could put my carbs that I have on my original engine on the new engine without un-syncing them. Any other info on the swap is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Well what are you doing? Just pulling out the motor and putting in a new one? Nope. I mean it really depends on te motor that you buy. If its complete and nothing is off like, stator cover ignition cover oil pan, if any of those are off then replace the gasket
Do you know if the motor runs and has a solid transmission, I would be leary about a $150 motor. swapping them is not bad, exhaust bolts get hot and break easy because of that - pb blaster and turn slow back and forth, the carbs can be used without sync if they were good before hand. mark everything with a marker like shifter bracket, throttle cables, etc, for easy reference to put it back. Read a motor replace tut and be sure you can tackle this kind of job.
the motor is complete except for a tranny. I am getting it from a machine shop. the guy said they've had it to build into a race motor but it was just a project that never got done. Its been sitting in the back of a room for the past three years and he just wanted to get rid of it. I bargined it down to 150 because I told him I just needed the bottom end off of it. It has ecu, stator, all pumps, carbs, guages and everything else besides tranny. I am just wondering how simple it would be to unbolt my block and put the new one it. Also, I plan on doing my fork seals since it would be a good time to, how hard are they? Do I need any special tools? Thanks for all the help

So you will have to swap the tranny into the new motor...sounds like a pretty big project.
So if you are doing internal motor work yes you will need gaskets, you might want to grab a tube of RVT as well.
Just swapping one motor out for another isnt terrible. but it sounds like your project is a bit more complicated then that
